Groups
Create and manage user groups for role-based access control in Aurva.
Groups let you assign permissions to many users at once. Every user in Aurva belongs to one or more groups, and each group is bound to a role that defines what its members can see and do.
Built-in groups
| Group | Default Role | Typical Members |
|---|---|---|
| Administrators | Admin | Platform owners, security architects |
| Security Operators | Security Operator | SOC analysts, incident responders |
| Policy Managers | Policy Manager | GRC team, compliance owners |
| Auditors | Read-Only | Internal/external auditors |
Creating a custom group
- Navigate to Settings → Administration → Groups.
- Click + Create Group.
- Enter a name, description, and select the role to bind.
- Add members from the user directory.
- Save. Permissions take effect immediately on next login.
Permission inheritance
When a user belongs to multiple groups, Aurva grants the union of all permissions across those groups. Use this carefully — adding a user to a high-privilege group cannot be subtracted by membership in a more restrictive group.
